The site sits at the crossroads of the redeveloping area north of Downtown that features nearby the RiNo arts district, future FasTracks transit stations, South Platte River amenities, and excellent highway access. One of the competition’s main assumptions was that the Coliseum had to remain the property of the city and continue as an entertainment venue. Click here for more information on the Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge.

The 60 foot billboard of Kathy Knaus’ painting“Grinder” was installed on Monday, March 1st as part of the Denver Theatre District’s project.

Kathy Knaus is a painter and installation artist and a member of the artists’ cooperative Ice Cube Gallery at the Dry Ice Factory (3320 Walnut St) in the Rino Arts District. The Denver Theatre District’s (http://www.denvertheatredistrict.com/) project is to expose Denver artists and galleries and add vitality to downtown Denver by placing art pieces on billboard’s and LED signs throughout the Denver Theatre District. Ivar Zeile, the creative director of the Denver Theatre District states, “Kathy Knaus’ artwork fits well into the directive of the Denver Theatre District’s goals to feature progressive and visually engaging contemporary art in the outdoor gallery that reflects the high caliber being created locally in Denver. The billboards also have specific size parameters, with the wide panoramic being the most challenging to fit without compromising the integrity of the original work. My hope is that those who engage with “Grinder” will be compelled to learn more about Kathy’s work as well as the burgeoning contemporary scene here in Denver.”

Mar. 2010: More recognition for TAXI’s FUEL Café!

TAXI is about creating a culture and environment built around innovation and new ideas – that is very much embodied in Bob’s kitchen at FUEL.

Image text (from March issue of 5280):
It’s a testament to Bob Blair’s cooking that the tucked-away Fuel Cafe has not only survived but also thrived. Once you find this funky, eclectic eatery (located in the TAXI development in burgeoning RiNo), you’ll return for the dynamic soups (hope for the showstopping sausage and white bean with escarole), the Cubano sandwich, and the specials the kitchen cooks up each day. Open for lunch during the week and dinner Thursday through Saturday, the restaurant has a constantly changing menu that reflects Blair’s mood.
