Plus Gallery has enriched Denver's contemporary art scene since 2001, providing one of the leading, reputable platforms for prestigious artist representation and exhibitions of note. Solo bodies of work are emphasized and typically on view for a five-week duration, laying the foundation for an active program of artist talks, experimental, educational and collecting forums promoting the greater appreciation of contemporary art.
Plus Gallery is located in a renovation of one of Denver's most unusual and dramatic buildings, the remnant "Flue" building from the Benjamin Moore Paint complex at 25th and Larimer, noted as the "Best new Gallery Space" by Westword in 2009. This singular redevelopment adds a two-story gallery space to the dramatic architecture of the Benjamin Moore complex, serving as a visual anchor for the entrance to the Upper Larimer corridor and River North Arts District. Plus Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 6pm, or by appointment. Plus Gallery is open for citywide First Fridays from 6-8pm.

Viviane Le Courtois creates installations using collected materials, sounds, videos, clay animation, lights, interactive elements and series of sculptures. Her recent installations have commented on socio-political, environmental and health issues. Ongoing series of sculptures include collections of useless but precious objects such as single socks fossils, used shoes, ceramics, pickles, etc... Drawings, prints, books and videos accompany the installations.
She traveled in 30 countries over the last 14 years with her shoes-sculptures to create art with the action of walking. Her art, which is conceptual and process based, often intrigues visitors by connecting art to everyday life.
Viviane Le Courtois received her DNSEP (MFA) in Sculpture/Installation from the Ecole Pilote Internationale d'Art et de Recherches in Nice , France in 1992. She moved to the US in 1994 and received an MA in Art History from the University of Denver in 2000. Christopher Ray Perez is a self-taught photographer and printmaker.
He has been modifying old cameras for years, creating his own mechanisms including “crappy plastic cameras,” pinhole cameras and, moving picture machines. For him, many things get lost with technology. His subjects including nudes, trees, minimal landscapes and objects have no reminder of modern society. They are often timeless and universal. Most of his works come from a series of processes and experiments. He focused on photobased printmaking to recreate aspects of Pictorialism in his own way. |
