“Return To The Source” - Recent Ceramic Sculpture by Keith Ekstam Opening Reception: First Friday May 2 2008 6-9pm

"I am committed to clay as my primary art making material for many reasons. It is simultaneously one of the most fragile art media, yet also one of the most permanent and enduring. Although made primarily from hand-built clay, wheel thrown and simple press molded parts are used at times in my art work. The term “mixed ceramic media” is interesting to me, so a variety of finishes and surfaces are often combined including low fire, high fire, salt, wood and luster glazes. The title of the exhibition, "Return to the Source", refers to my revisiting imagery that I have used on and off over the years in an attempt to inform my next body of work. These sculptures are the most recent result of that investigation."
