This ain't grace - this all fucked - this old thing. God is dead or dying, and all we have left is our broken and battered selves and the question we rode in on. Why. MISSA POPULIS is a reclaiming of the Catholic Mass – an exploration and undermining from within – dissected and recreated in the guise of performance and the name of humanity. Combining the sacrifice and transcendence and blood and circumstance of the original with history, music, science, dance, literature and pop culture to find a wholly modern communion experience that is all human. This is the Peoples Mass.

Ice Cube Gallery presents: The Great Marsh – Patricia Aaron

Ice Cube Gallery
3320 Walnut Street
Denver, CO 80205
icecubegallery.com

On March 5th, Karen Swyler returns to Colorado for a solo exhibition of her fine ceramic work. Swyler, who received her MFA in Ceramics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, joins us for an artist reception and show opening during our March 5th "First Friday", 6-9pm. Swyler's work will be on display at Plinth Gallery through March 27, 2010. Karen will also discuss her work at 3pm on March 5th, during a presentation at Arapahoe Community College. For information on this program, call 303-797-5948 or contact kathy.holt@arapahoe.edu

Karen Swyler's porcelain vessels begin as simple, unadorned forms which are skillfully deconstructed then reassembled into pairs or groups that convey a relationship to each other. Her surfaces are finished in a simple white glaze, at times incorporating a thin line of contrast to further unite the paired forms. Karen's ceramic work is refined, elegant and reflects her own interpretations of personal relationships, using this pairing of vessels as a metaphor. We are delighted to show her exquisite work at Plinth Gallery.

More New Work in the Gallery:
In addition to the elegant pieces of Karen Swyler, our Gallery Collection has many new items including ceramic baskets from Jim Kraft, the intricately designed platters of Paul Barchilon, and the expressive pieces from Barbara Schwartz.

Additionally, Jonathan Kaplan is honored to be among thirteen ceramic artists selected for the “Colorado Clay” exhibition at the Foothills Art Center in Golden, March 13-May 2, 2010.

“What it is!” art gallery presents:

WHAT IT IS!
186 E. 45th Ave.
Denver, CO 80216
303.641.9124
